The long journey to Mars:

First of all - a couple of words about who we are. First, we were playing Earth2025 for various periods (Devil has began to play in 1997, Ashkael is for more then 2 years). Also, we have the considerable experience in various mass multiplayer gaming environments (strategies, rpgs, muds - as players and administrators/implementors too).

In time we faced the problem - Russian players didn't wanted to play Earth due to the language barrier. So, the fist step to invite Russian players was the earth2025.ru (made on pure enthusiasm) project - ajax-based on-the-fly translation. But, for unknown reason - Mehul has made some changes into security system - making this technology of translation impossible (it's simply stoped working).

So, we had to find another concept for translation. After enormous research work, weeks of discussions we discovered the way to translate Earth into virtually any language. But this technology required some minor changes into Earth security system, therefore it could not be implemented without Mehul's collaboration. So, we made some final tests of the concept and wrote an official letter to him. We have been waiting for almost 1 month for the response and we've got none. In that time we have made some discussions about translation on Earth's boards - and the opinion of players (even moderators) - was, in common, "Great idea!", somebody even wanted to help with translation to his own language (it was French and German, perhaps, but I don't remember it exactly).

Gradually, we began to despair in the opportunity to bring such a good idea to life. Finally, when we understood that there will be no response, we decided to create entire game ourselves to give opportunity for more people to play it. After 3 months of hard work we have finally done it (yes, maybe we are too proud to be unnoticed with such brilliant concepts - but if Mehul doesn't care - we do...).

Some sort of similarity with Earth (in names and gameplay) has been done to make adaptation process for English-speaking people as easy as possible. And, also, we've got opportunity to do some changes and to implement some good ideas... So, day by day we're going farer and farer from original. We also payed a lot of attention to game security (anti-cheaters protection) - so it will be no bot-managed countries (up to 1k of them was in the original game - well-known fact). And, there will be no random deletions (I was really tired to have deleted countries for unknown reason).

So, we welcome you all to Mars and hope you'll enjoy that (for now we have heard some good opinions about our work).

Ashkael & Devil.

P.S. Please, remember - one of the main concepts - that access to game is _free_. Paid subscriptions give you access to extra services (I'll write about that in details shortly). Enthusiasm needs to be fueled by cash to burn for long...

I find it odd how this game was brought around because of Earth using English instead of Russian and yet a lot of Earthers/english speaking hobo's are playing it. :D
